Charity initiative, Concerts for Carers, has today announced that the Motorpoint Arena Nottingham has been added to its growing roster of venues, providing tickets to every event for NHS and paid Care workers as a means of promoting their mental health and wellbeing.

Since its launch, Concerts for Carers together with O2, has seen over 100,000 NHS and paid Care workers register to enter for tickets to over 1,750 shows with over 50,000 tickets worth over £3.5million given away.

Martin Ingham, Chief Executive at Motorpoint Arena Nottingham, said: “We are absolutely delighted to be partnering with Concerts for Carers. It is a simple way for our venue to say thank you to so many staff for the huge amounts of dedication, skill, hard work and caring that they put into looking after some of the most vulnerable people in our community. We are very proud that the Motorpoint Arena Nottingham gives over half a million people a year a wonderful release from everyday problems and stresses as they focus on having a great time. That is great for our customers’ mental health, but it is the staff in the NHS and care homes who do the hard work in caring for people, day in, day out.”

Concerts for Carers co-founder, Steve Gotkine, said: ”Partnering with the Motorpoint Arena Nottingham is instrumental in widening our reach across the UK and providing more opportunities for our beneficiaries to get access to events all year round. We are thrilled to partner with such a fantastic venue and incredibly grateful for their support.”

Founded by music venue executives, Concerts for Carers together with O2 is a registered charity created to promote the mental health and wellbeing of NHS staff and paid Care workers, particularly – but not exclusively – by providing access to free music tickets all year round.

“Our ambition is to unite the UK Live Music Industry in thanking all NHS and paid Care workers by partnering with live music and entertainment venues across the UK and providing free concert tickets for these staff. With our experience of working at a number of venues across the UK, we feel that we are the right people to provide a centralised platform that allows the whole of the UK Live Industry to show its thanks and appreciation.”

How it works

  • NHS and paid Care workers can sign-up via www.concertsforcarers.org.uk
  • Once registered on the website, NHS staff and paid Care workers can apply for shows that they would like to attend
  • All requests will be entered into a ballot
  • Recipients will then be notified if they have won tickets to their preferred events.

Concerts for Carers’ mission is to promote the mental health and wellbeing of NHS workers and paid carers in the UK, in particular but not exclusively by providing access to free tickets to music events. And to do so on a permanent basis, providing a legacy that endures not only for those who have worked so hard to keep the country safe, but for future beneficiaries in the years to come.

Having now secured agreement from some of the UK’s leading live music destinations, including The O2, The Academy Music Group and Motorpoint Arena Nottingham the organisation is looking to raise £100,000 to achieve its goal. If you are an eligible beneficiary, please register now at www.concertsforcarers.org.uk. And if you wish to contribute towards this fantastic initiative and be part of creating something that truly honours NHS workers and paid carers, please visit https://www.justgiving.com/concertforcarers.

About Concerts for Carers

Concerts for Carers was created to promote the mental health and wellbeing of NHS workers and paid carers in the UK, in particular but not exclusively by providing access to free tickets to music events. And to do so on a permanent basis, providing a legacy that endures not only for those who have worked so hard to keep the country safe, but for future beneficiaries in the years to come.

NHS workers and paid Carers have put their lives on the line every day for the public during this current Covid-19 pandemic. The demands placed on them are amplified by the responsibility they carry and the often-difficult working conditions in which they work. Concerts for Carers will create an opportunity for them to join in a social leisure activity, either with colleagues or with family and friends, that gives respite from stressful jobs and brings all the benefits of music and social interaction.

We will work in partnership with venues from across the UK who will make available free concert tickets that we will then distribute via ballot. Concerts for Carers is a not-for-profit company registered at Companies House (# 12575257) and is registered with the Charity Commission of England and Wales (# 1194916). The charity has 3 trustees; Steve Gotkine, Mark Lambert and Aidan de Brunner, all of whom have backgrounds in the Live Entertainment and Not-for-Profit sectors.
